The Lagos State Police Command has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to heighten security surveillance and maintain visibility in their area of coverage across the state.

Mr. Abiodun Alabi, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, who stated this in an interview with Channels TV Thursday, March 10, 2022, said the Command had given a definite directive on the deployment and patrol of all motor parks across the Centre of Excellence.

The Police measure on ensuring security across the state is reportedly coming on the heels of the indefinite suspension of Musiliu Akinsanya (popularly called MC Oluomo), Lagos State Chapter Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW),   over his alleged misconduct, insubordination, and inciting members of the state chapter against the apex body.

The Commissioner of Police, however, assured Lagos residents of adequate security of life and property.

Recall the Lagos NURTW Chairman was suspended earlier Thursday, and Adeniyi said the Lagos State Command’s move was necessary to curb any form of violence that may arise therefrom.

The national Transport Union also directed ‘MC Oluomo’ to immediately hand over the mantle of leadership to the Deputy Chairman of NURTW in Lagos, and release all property belonging to the body in his possession to State Secretary, in a bid to avoid any leadership vacuum in the state.
