Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine gets full regulatory approval

*The US Food and Drug Administration has granted full approval to Moderna’s mRNA Vaccine against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, joining the vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech as the two FDA-approved vaccines in the country

Sequel to the regulatory agency’s data review, the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval to Moderna’s mRNA Vaccine against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

ConsumerConnect gathered the Coronavirus vaccine brand now has joined the vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech as the two FDA-approved vaccines in the American country.

Hitherto, both vaccines were administered on consumers under the FDA’s emergency use authorisation (EAU).

The Moderna vaccine will be marketed under the brand name Spikevax, agency report said.

Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said: “The FDA’s approval of Spikevax is a significant step in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, marking the second vaccine approved to prevent COVID-19.

“The public can be assured that Spikevax meets the FDA’s high standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality required of any vaccine approved for use in the United States.”
