The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has urged Nigerians to ensure safety of lives and property as the 2021 festive season gradually approaches its climax with its attendant steady flow of human and vehicular movements around the country.

ConsumerConnect reports Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, Anambra State Sector Commander of FRSC, who stated this at a media parley at the Command Headquarters, also noted Corps does not accept bribe for performing its primary function of saving lives in Nigeria.

The Anambra State FRSC Sector Commander said the Corps had been performing humanitarian services, and did not compromise its position in the course of carrying out such services, especially as more human and vehicular movements as expected this Yuletide.

Irelewuyi noted the FRSC frowns on any act of corruption from the Corps officers, and if established, disciplinary actions would be unleashed on the erring officer.

The sector command, he stated, is committed to ensuring safer roads for all and sundry in Anambra State.

The sector commander also disclosed that a special patrol would commence from December 17, 2021, and for the first time, he said the FRSC would introduce the use of body cameras for its operatives on the highways.

The FRSC chief said that Anambra State would be one of the pilot states the body cameras would be deployed in this season.

Irelewuyi disclosed the essence of the body cameras is to protect motorists from inhumane treatments from FRSC operatives, and also protect marshals from assaults from road users.

The device is being monitored from a control centre at the Corps national headquarters Abuja, in Abuja, he said.
