As most Nigerian schools and colleges prepare to close for the year 2021, it is the desire of many parents to help their kids continue to learn while enjoying the excitement and fun that come with the holiday season.

‘All work but no play makes Jack a dull boy’, but all play but no work makes Jack a dull boy too, according to Edusko.

The educational development consultants noted that balance is required when it comes to kids play and work time.

The firm also stated: “Let me also use this opportunity to invite you and your teenagers to be a part of the 2022 edition of The Avenue, Nigeria’s largest gathering of parents and their teenagers.

“It’s the second edition and the event will afford you the opportunity to build strong relationship with your teenagers among many other things.”

The group in a blog post as well shared with ConsumerConnect suggests four practical ways your kids can still learn during this holiday, even outside of their normal classrooms: These are:

  1. Watch and create education videos on YouTube

You can engage your child in learning while having fun watching videos on YouTube. There are many educational content on this video platform than your child can ever consume, so take advantage of it this holiday.

  1. Have family reading time every evening

The fact that its holiday does not stop kids from improving their reading skills. Make it fun by involving other family members as this will also tighten family bond.

  1. Help kids learn money management

Does your child have basic money management skills? Can they save money and use it to buy some little items they need? This holiday is a good opportunity for your kids to learn how to save money and why its important especially as they’ll be receiving lots of gifts from loved ones.

  1. Help kids Learn how to play a new game

Your kids can exercise their brains and develop their minds through games like Chess, Checkers, Tic-tac-toe, Connect four, Civilisation, etc.

When you participate in these games with them, it creates lasting good memories, too.
