The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that it registered over 1,900,000 candidates thus far in 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) ongoing registration of candidates for the public examination.

ConsumerConnect learnt that Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesman, who made the disclosure Sunday said the number ‘was the highest ever’ registered since the creation of the board in 1978.

Dr. Benjamin further said the number of candidates might reach 2 million before the end of registration at midnight February 17, 2020.

This year’s examination will hold from March 14 to April 4 in 747 CBT centres across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in its efforts at curbing examination irregularities in all forms, recall that the Board recently arrested and prosecuted a number of proprietors of private Computer Based Test (CBT) centres.

Some of the arrested culprits were prosecuted and jailed, while many CBT centres were banned from handling UTME henceforth.
