5G Networks: NCC releases final Information Memorandum, comments for 3.5GHz spectrum auction

*The Nigerian telecoms sector regulatory Commission says the final Information Memorandum (IM) for the forthcoming auction of 3.5GHz spectrum band, and compiled responses to stakeholders’ comments on the IM are part of its 5G Technology Deployment Plan for the country

In exercise of its functions under the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 (the Act), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has published the final Information Memorandum (IM) for the auction of 3.5GHz spectrum band and compiled comments on the IM respectively.

ConsumerConnect reports the telecoms sector regulatory Commission stated this development Wednesday, November 10, 2021,via a public notice endorsed by Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, Director of Public Affairs at NCC, and made available on its corporate Web site.

The NCC noted that the final IM for the upcoming auction of the 3.5GHz spectrum band, and compiled responses to stakeholders’ comments on the IM are part of the 5G Technology Deployment Plan of the Commission.

It said: “Stakeholders are by this notice invited to peruse these two documents indicating the Start Date of receipt of applications for the Auction.

“The documents are to be found on the Commission’s Web site at www.ncc.gov.ng. The attention of Stakeholders is drawn, particularly to Sections 1 (e), VII {(i) (ii), (v) (3) (c)} and XI (e) of the IM.”

The Commission has directed all applications for participation in the proposed Auction must reach the Commission on or before Wednesday, November 24, 2021, and should be addressed to: The Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Plot 423, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja; and Attention: Director, Spectrum Administration/Chairman 5G Auction Committee.
