Global death toll from COVID-19 complications surpasses 5million ─Report

*The ‘unofficial count’ maintained by Johns Hopkins University indicates the total global cases were 246,929,884 and total global deaths put at 5,003,404 as of Monday, November 1

As vaccinations against the damaging Coronavirus pandemic continue across the world,  the number of people who have died from COVID-19 complications rose above the 5 million mark over the weekend, according to the unofficial count maintained by Johns Hopkins University.

It was learnt the United States (US) continues to lead the world in the number of deaths, with more than 746,000.

Brazil is second with 608,000 deaths and India is third with 459,000 fatalities, agency report noted.

According to Johns Hopkins’ COVID-19 Tracking Project, there have been 247 million cases of the virus since the pandemic began in early 2020.

The 28-day average of cases is 11.7 million, and the 28-day average of COVID-19 deaths is 197,000.

Meanwhile, the Coronavirus ‌tally‌ ‌as‌ ‌‌compiled‌‌ ‌by‌ ‌Johns‌ ‌Hopkins‌ ‌University showed the total‌ ‌US‌ ‌confirmed‌ ‌cases were estimated at‌ 46,006,251 with total‌‌ ‌746,289 deaths, whereas the total‌ ‌global‌ ‌cases were‌ 246,929,884 and total‌ ‌global‌ ‌deaths put at 5,003,404 as of November 1, 2021.
