NNPC, Kebbi’s ethanol project generating mass employment, says Bagudu

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kebbi State Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on ethanol biofuel production is designed to provide opportunities for massive employment, empowerment, and wealth creation for the inhabitants of the state.

Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State stated this while conducting round the representatives of the Economic Community of Wes African States (ECOWAS) at two cassava demonstration farms Monday, October 4, 2021, at Gangije and Maitsani in Gwandu Local Government Area of the state.

The ECOWAS delegation, alongside governors from Niger and Benin Republics, were in Birnin Kebbi for a week’s training workshop on Integrated and Secured Pastoralism and Livestock Management in West Africa, agency report said.

Gvernor Bagudu disclosed that the MoU between the state and NNPC has not only created massive jobs for especially young people in the state, but it also encouraged production of other crops.

He explained: “It gladdens my heart that people in the state have embarked on the production of food and cash crops for local consumption and export towards attaining food security and economic prosperity.”

Bagudu also encouraged the populace to take the opportunity to better their living standards, as he urged them to support the state government’s policies and programmes.

Mr. Sekou Sangare, ECOWAS Commissioner, in his remarks during the tour of the facility, commended Bagudu on improving agricultural production in Kebbi State and increasing the purchasing power of his people.

The Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad-Shallah, Village Head of Maitsani, Alhaji Adamu Halidu, Magajin Maitsani and officials of the Gwandu Local Government Council conducted the governor round the demonstration farms, report stated.
