Hyundai has said that a potentially dangerous defect with certain Hyundai Sonata models has led to a massive recall, affecting over 466,000 vehicles.

The automaker indicated the affected cars have a common problem with their Smart Junction Box (SJB) software, agency report noted.

The company stated the issue reportedly causes the turn signal to activate in the opposite direction of what the driver intends, which could cause a crash.

Hyundai disclosed it is working with dealers so that affected vehicle owners can have their cars repaired free of charge.

Notification letters are scheduled to be sent out by November 19, report said.
