Land Rover recalls 28,000 various Range Rovers with faulty seat belt retractors

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Land Rover is recalling 28,000 model year 2021 Range Rovers, model year 2022 Range Rover Sports, model year 2020-2021 Range Rover Velar & Discovery Sport vehicles, and model year 2020-2022 Discovery and Defender vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer said the seat belt automatic locking detractors may deactivate early, which can prevent the child restraint system from securing properly.

According to Land Rover, an unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

In connection with what to do in rectifying this error, the company dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies, as necessary free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 22, 2021.

Meanwhile, affected owners may contact Land Rover Customer Service on (800) 637-6837, and Land Rover’s number for this recall is N630.
