Ford recalls 592 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator vehicles over defective airbags

Ford Motor Company is recalling 592 model year 2021 Explorers and Lincoln Aviator vehicles.

The side airbag attachment weld studs could detach during the deployment of the side airbag, resulting in an improper deployment.

Improper deployment of a side airbag increases the risk of injury in a crash.

On what to in rectifying the error, the company stated that dealers would replace the side air bag assemblies free of charge.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Ford Customer Service on (866) 436-7332, and  Ford’s number for this recall is 21C19.
