Buhari in Yola for condolences to family of late NCC’s Board Chair Ahmed Joda

*President Muhammadu Buhari visits the palace of Mohammadu Aliu Barkindo, Lamido of Adamawa, to also condole with the government and people of Adamawa State

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at Yola International Airport, Adamawa State of Nigeria, at 10:44 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, on a condolence visit to the family of Alhaji Ahmed Joda, OFR, CON, CFR, late super Permanent Secretary and former Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

ConsumerConnect reports President Buhari would visit the palace of Mohammadu Aliu Barkindo, Lamido of Adamawa, to also condole with the government and people of the state.

Earlier at the airport to welcome Buhari were Governor Ahmadu Fintri of Adamawa State; Prof. Maxwell Gidado, SAN, his Chief of Staff; and members of the State Executive Council, as well as the heads of security agencies in the North-Eastern state of the country.

Buhari Sallau, a presidential aide, also confirmed the visit to the state as he shared a video on Facebook, showing Buhari alighting from a presidential jet Friday morning.

Sallau wrote: “President Muhammadu Buhari arrives Yola to condole with people and government of Adamawa State over the death of Alhaji Ahmed Joda, OFR, CON, CFR (13 February 1930 – 13 August 2021).”

He added: “President Muhammadu Buhari visits Kano this afternoon for his son, Yusuf Buhari’s wedding to Zahra Nasir Bayero at the Emir Palace in Bichi LGA.”

Earlier, the President in a condolence message has described late Joda as a trustworthy and loyal companion “who steadfastly stood for the interest of the nation through highs and lows.”

Buhari noted that death is a great loss to Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.

The President also had earlier sent a Presidential delegation to Yola.

The delegation included the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Senator representing Adamawa Central, Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, members of the House of Representatives representing Yola/Yola South, Hon. Ja’afaru Sulaiman Ribadu and Gombi, Hon Yusuf Buba as well as Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello.

Others were Senior Special Assistants to the President, Sarki Abba and Garba Shehu; and a Special Assistant in the Presidency, Ibrahin Bapetel and Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, Air Commodore A.Y. Abdullahi.
