Following the recent testing of a sample of the company’s products, Greater Omaha Packing Company Incorporated is recalling over 295,000 pounds of its raw beef products because they may have been contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

ConsumerConnect gathered the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said though no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions had been reported, any consumers concerned about a potential infection should see their healthcare provider immediately.

The regulatory agency noted that discovered the issue after testing a sample of the company’s products recently.

  1. coli has been described as ‘a nasty bacteria that can induce a range of symptoms, including dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps.’

While most consumers recover within a week when infected with it, some infections can lead to a serious type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome, agency report said.

It is also noted that the affected raw beef products were produced July 13, 2021, and have an establishment number that reads “EST. 960A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

They were distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Nebraska states in the United States of America (USA).
