Firm recalls food seasonings due to salmonella contamination

*McCormick & Company advises the affected consumers to throw away the affected products with their containers

In safeguarding the wellbeing of consumers, McCormick & Company is recalling its McCormick Perfect Pinch Italian Seasoning, McCormick Culinary Italian Seasoning, and Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Ranch Seasoning products because they may have been contaminated with salmonella.

ConsumerConnect reports Salmonella is a ‘rod-shaped bacterium found in the intestine that can cause food poisoning, gastroenteritis, and typhoid fever.’

McCormick & Company stated that a salmonella infection can cause serious illness, but it may even be fatal to children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.

It was learnt the common symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, but these can worsen if the bacteria are able to enter the bloodstream.

The products were shipped from the firm between June 20 and July 21, 2021, to Bermuda, Canada and 32 states in the United States of America (USA) respectively.

Consumers are, therefore, urged to throw away the affected products and their containers.
