For the product containers looking too similar to ordinary water bottles, an Oklahoma-based company that produces hand sanitisers is recalling all of its 16.9-ounce and 20-ounce products from the market.

Prairie Wolf Spirits Incorporated, in an announcement on the US FDA’s Web site, said its products are only meant to be applied topically.

Consumers who accidentally ingest the products could experience potentially fatal alcohol toxicity, said the company.

The manufacturer noted that it would be notifying consumers of the recall by mail.

It equally advises anyone who has already purchased its products to stop using them.

Meanwhile, affected consumers can return the hand sanitisers to its Prairie Wolf Spirits distillery in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in the United States, or “throw them away.”
