Producer recalls 25,000 containers of essential oils due to poor packaging, methyl salicylate

For failure to meet certain child-resistant packaging standards, a New Jersey-based maker of essential oil products, Plant Guru, is recalling over 25,000 containers of various essential oil products from the market.

The consumer product manufacturer Plant Guru stated the essential oils contain a substance called methyl salicylate, and by implication, the products packaging must meet higher standards, so that children cannot be accidentally exposed to it, agency report said.

It was learnt the affected were sold on Plant Guru’s Web site and on third-party platforms such as Amazon.com and eBay.com from March 2018, through February 2021.

Consumers are being advised to stop using the recalled products immediately, and to store them safely away from children.

Plant Guru has that it will be contacting all known consumers to offer a full refund and supply a free child-resistant replacement cap for any products were already purchased from the market.
