Amid the lingering face-off between the Federal Government of Nigeria and global technology giant and social media platform Twitter, Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate, has said that Nigeria and Twitter need each other in today’s knowledge-based economy and era of the Internet of Things (IoT).

ConsumerConnect reports Lawan, who stated this at media briefing to mark the second anniversary of the 9th Senate Friday, June 11, 2021, in Abuja, FCT, urged an amicable resolution of the disagreement between Twitter and the Federal Government.

The Senate President stated: “We believe that Nigeria needs Twitter just as Twitter needs Nigeria. We expect that we will be able to resolve this issue

“But beyond that, I am optimistic and I believe that all of us would have learnt our lessons.”

In regard to the current security challenges confronting the country, he assured Nigerians that the country would overcome the challenges it is faced with.

Lawan said: “I believe this is the worst level we could get to. We cannot go beyond this level, it could only be better.

“I believe we are going to give a reversal of this situation very soon. We shouldn’t despair, we shouldn’t be despondent.”

He added: “We should have hope and optimism that our situation will be better.”
