Drug Trafficking: Agency seizes 87 cakes suspected to be laced with cannabis

*Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau has said it seized cakes believed to be infused with cannabis

Categorised as a Class A controlled drug listed under Singapore’s Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), the country’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has seized 87 cakes believed to be infused with cannabis.

The CNB in a recent statement said that its officers arrested the 38-year-old male suspect for suspected drug activities in the vicinity of Upper Cross Street evening Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

ConsumerConnect reports the CNB is the primary drug enforcement agency in Singapore, and it is responsible for coordinating all matters pertaining to eradication of illegal drugs and hard substances in the country.

The consumption, possession, trafficking, import or export of any controlled drugs, including cannabis and cannabis products, is an offence under the MDA Act in the country, YahooSingapore report said.

Report indicated that the man was brought to his hideout nearby, where a search was conducted.

There, at the residential unit, officers found and seized five packets containing about 36g of ‘Ice’ and various drug paraphernalia, in addition to the 87 cakes.

CNB said that it is currently investigating the suspect’s drug activities, report said.

Cannabis is a Class A controlled drug listed under Singapore’s Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), just as the consumption, possession, trafficking, import, or export of any controlled drugs, including cannabis and cannabis products, is an offence under the MDA in Singapore.
