Toyota recalls 279,040 Venza cars over defective airbags

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling 279,040 model year 2009-2015 Venza vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer said the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) wiring may become damaged with regular use of the driver-side door.

Damaged wires may cause the airbag sensor to become inoperable, preventing the deployment of the side and curtain airbags on the driver side and increasing the risk of injury in a crash, it stated.

In regard to what to do in rectifying the error, Toyota will notify affected owners, and dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the driver-side front door wire harness free of charge.

The current recall is expected to begin May 31, 2021.

Owners may contact Toyota Customer Service on (800) 331-4331, and the company’s number for this recall is 21TB01/21TA01.
