BMW of North America is recalling 17 model year 2021 X3 sDrive30i, X3 xDrive30i, X3 M40i, X3M, X4, and X4 xDrive30i vehicles.

The company disclosed the inlet check valve weld may fail, allowing the filling pipe to separate from the fuel tank.

Fuel may leak through the failed weld, increasing the risk of a fire.

As regards what to do in resolving the issue, MMW will notify affected owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank free of charge.

The current recall is scheduled to begin May 17, 2021, and owners may contact BMW customer service at (800) 525-7417.
