Food Security: Osun set to resuscitate farm settlements to boost agribusiness

In a strategic move to improve agricultural productivity and improve employment opportunities, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has said that his administration is ready to rehabilitate all farm settlements in the state towards ensuring food and nutrition security.

Mr. Oyewole Adebayo, General Manager, Osun State Agricultural Development Corporation, (OSSADEC) disclosed this development when speaking with news reporters Friday, April 9, 2021, in Osogbo, the state capital.

Governor Oyetola has assured farmers of his government’s support in turning the state into food basket of the South West region of Nigeria.

The OSSADEC General Manager said the state government had been passionate about improving agricultural productivity in the state, and this informed the decision to vote huge amounts of money to lend the farmers in order to boost agricultural productivity.

Adebayo explained that the current administration in Osun State is working assiduously towards turning the state into an agricultural hub, and is doing all within its capacity to sustain the tempo.

The government through the OSSADEC, he stated, has commenced giving grants to the farmers who are interested in getting same, adding that the grant ranging from N50, 000 to N250, 000 is available to all farmers.

He commended the Adegboyega Oyetola administration for creating a conducive environment for farmers in the state.

The government would not relent in working towards the development of farmers across the state.
