Hyundai recalls Santa Fe SUV cars over faulty occupant detection system

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 10 model year 2021 Santa Fe SUV cars.

The Occupant Detection System (ODS) module may not deactivate the airbag upon detection of a child restraint system in the front passenger seat.

The company said the deployment of the front passenger airbag with a child in that seat can increase the risk of injury to the child.

As regards what to do in rectifying the error, Hyundai will notify affected owners, and dealers will replace the ODS module free of charge.

The current recall is expected to begin May 14, 2021.

Meanwhile, owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service on (855) 371-9460, and Hyundai’s number for this recall is 202.
