In view of the current security challenges causing social dislocations, disrupting lives and property in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Service Chiefs to identify leaders of the rampaging bandits and kidnappers and take them out to restore confidence in the affected areas and regions in the country.

Babagana Munguno, National Security Adviser (NSA) after a security meeting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, FCT, informed the State House Correspondents Tuesday, that President Buhari Tuesday, March 30 gave the directive to Service Chiefs at the meeting.

The NSA said that the President made it clear to them that the criminals would no longer dictate the tone in the country.

According to Monguno, the Service Chiefs at the security meeting also related that they have identified weak areas that would be strengthened to appropriately fish out collaborators with non-state actors in this regard.

The President is aware of plans by individuals who constitute themselves as authorities to undermine the efforts of the central government, and he is sending out a warning that the government would clamp down on them, he noted.

Buhari’s security meeting with the Service Chiefs was said to have held hours before his scheduled trip to the United Kingdom (UK) Tuesday for a routine check-up.

He is expected back in Nigeria during the second week of April 2021.

In attendance at the meeting are Gen. Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS); Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Awwal Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Vice-Marshal Isiaka Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

Others at the meeting are Vice-President (Prof.) Yemi Osinbajo; Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF); Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President, NSA Babagana Munguno; and Mr. Mohammed Adamu, Inspector General of Police (IGP).
