Sequel to recent efforts by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore electricity supply to Maiduguri and environs, in Borno State, North-East Nigeria, Boko Haram terrorists, again, have destroyed another section of the 330 Kilovolts Damaturu-to-Maiduguri transmission line.

It was learnt that a senior official of the TCN confirmed this in a text message (SMS) evening Saturday, March 27, 2021.

The official stated: “After concerted effort by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore power to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, insurgents bomb tower 152 and 153 on Damaturu─Maiduguri (Molai) 330KV line at around 5:56a.m. on 27th March, 2021, putting Maiduguri and its environs out of power supply again.”

Likewise Wednesday, March 24, there was wild jubilation when the power was restored by the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), Daily Trust report said.

It was nearly two months after insurgents attacked the 330kV Damaturu to Maiduguri transmission line around the Jakana area of the town January 26, destroying three towers and cutting off the capital from the national power grid.

The TCN official, however, assured consumers in the affected areas, that work on the transmission towers that hitherto vandalised would be completed before the latest incident occurred Saturday morning.
