Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 10,303 model year 2021 Atlas and model year 2020-2021 Atlas Cross Sport vehicles.

The automaker said the front steering knuckle may fracture in the area of the strut mounting, reports ConsumerAffairs.

It noted that a fractured steering knuckle could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

In regard to what to do in rectifying the error, Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, and as necessary, replace one or both steering knuckles free of charge.

The current recall is expected to begin March 26, 2021.

In the meantime, affected owners may contact Volkswagen Customer Service on (800) 893-5298, and Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 40Q7.
