BMW of North America is recalling 49 model year 2020-2021 Z4 and model year 2020-2021 Toyota Supra cars.

The company states the weld between the fuel tank halves may have been insufficiently welded, causing the weld to fail.

The failed weld may allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source, said the automobile manufacturer.

In connection with what to do in rectifying the error, BMW will notify affected owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank free of charge.

The current recall is expected to begin January 4, 2021.

Meanwhile, owners may contact BMW Customer Service on (800) 525-7417, or Toyota Customer Service on (888) 270-9371.
