El Niño is a natural weather phenomenon that occurs every few years.
It is caused by unusually warm Pacific Ocean waters, which disrupt weather conditions worldwide.
Weather experts are predicting that this year could be a record-breaking super El Niño.
“People should be planning for worst-case scenarios.”—Dr. Kim Cobb, climate scientist at Brown University.
El Niño events in the past have led to intense storms, flooding, severe droughts, and wildfires that result from abnormally dry conditions.
This year, El Niño has already contributed to the hottest summer on record in the United States and in many parts of Europe and increased hurricane activity in the Pacific.
It has also caused drier than normal conditions in the Caribbean.
Time will tell what the full impact will be of this super El Niño.
Does extreme weather fulfill Bible prophecy?
Yes. Extreme weather fits the events that the Bible foretold for our time.
For example, Jesus prophesied that we would see “fearful sights,” such as devastating storms and raging wildfires. (Luke 21:11)
However, we do have reason to be hopeful.
The Bible promises that God, by means of his Kingdom, will soon take full control of all aspects of the weather, keeping it in perfect balance.
