GOCOP set for 10th Annual Conference in Lagos –Official

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has said all arrangements have been concluded for its forthcoming 10th Annual Conference, scheduled to hold Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Lagos.

The conference, with the theme, “2027 Elections: Trust, Transparency and Shared Responsibilities”, is   holding  at 10 a.m. at Radisson Blu Hotel, 38-40, Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

GOCOP affirmed that Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would deliver the keynote address.

while the Founding Partner of Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, will chair the proceedings.

Panellists confirmed for the conference include CP Abayomi Shogunle, Commissioner of Police, Election Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Force Headquarters, Abuja; and Prof. Tayo Popoola, Head of Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka-Yaba, Lagos.

Others are Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, Creative Director of Gender Agenda and Founder of WEWE Network Afrique; and Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director of the International Press Centre.

Publicity Secretary of GOCOP, in a statement Monday, October 5, in Abuja, noted Mr. Olumide Iyanda, Deputy President of GOCOP and Chairman of the 2026 Conference Planning Committee, remarked that the 10th edition would attract media executives, policymakers, academics, civil society leaders, and other stakeholders.

Iyanda stated the stakeholders would examine the responsibilities of electoral institutions, political actors, security agencies, the media and citizens in strengthening public confidence ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

GOCOP also announced a strong list of partners for the landmark edition, including the Lagos State Government, Imo State Government, Ekiti State Government, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

Other partners include Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Nigeria Customs Service, Dangote Group, Seplat, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Bank of Industry (BoI), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Among the private sector supporters, the Guild stated, include TAJBank, Emadeb Energy, Setraco Limited, Sovereign Trust Insurance and Nestlé Nigeria Plc.

Iyanda also expressed appreciation to all partners for their support.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee as well noted that their commitment underscored the importance of credible elections, and responsible journalism to national development.

The GOCOP Annual Conference is a flagship platform for engagement on issues of national importance, and the 2026 edition marks a decade of consistent dialogue, advocacy and thought leadership by corporate online publishers in Nigeria.
