The fake recruitment notice reportedly, requested prospective applicants to submit their details to recruit@replacementnhrmt.org.
It is noted that the latest warning has come in regard to the circulation of online recruitment adverts targeting job seekers, raising concerns that unsuspecting Nigerians could be tricked into surrendering personal information or money in the process.
The NRS, in a statement shared on its official X account Monday, October 5, 2026, however, described the purported recruitment notice as fraudulent.
The NRS urged Nigerians to ignore it.
The statement noted: “The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service.”
The country’s tax regulatory body further clarified that the Federal Inland Revenue Service had been succeeded by the Nigeria Revenue Service.
It also warned members of the public to be cautious of recruitment offers issued in the name of the defunct FIRS.
The Service restated: “For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf.”
The regulatory agency as well tasked Nigerians to independently verify recruitment information before submitting personal details or responding to online links.
The NRS emphasised that any genuine recruitment exercise by it would be announced through its official Web site, and other authorised communication channels.
