President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Engr. Biodun Otunola, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Planet Projects Limited, in Nigeria, on his appointment as Honorary Lagos Consul of the United Mexican States.

Engr. Otunola, a renowned civil engineer and transport planner, was officially conferred with the position of the Honorary Lagos Consul of the United Mexican States Monday, September 15, 2025, during the 215th Mexican Independence Day celebration, held in Abuja, FCT.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement, said President Tinubu described Otunola’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his personal integrity, professional excellence, and his contributions to national development.

The statement also noted the Nigeria leader commended Otunola’s role in delivering landmark transport infrastructure projects across the West African country, particularly in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu, among others.

The President further highlighted the efforts the Managing Director of Planet Projects Limited at building stronger ties between Nigeria and Mexico.

Encouraging him to make the most of the new role, Onanuga stated President Tinubu said: “This recognition should serve as a platform to enhance relations between Nigeria and Mexico, particularly in trade and investment, allowing citizens to reap long-term benefits.”

The President as well assured Engr. Otunola of his administration’s support as the Honorary Lagos Consul of the United Mexican States further expands his sphere of influence beyond Nigeria, into other African countries and the international world.
