CEO: Dangote Petroleum Refinery building Africa’s capacity to power the world

Following the official listing of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals’ N2.15 trillion new Ordinary Shares on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), the Management of the company have described the facility as “more than a refinery” but a pan-African energy platform built for global impact.

ConsumerConnect reports Mr. David Bird, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, in Lagos, stated this September 11, 2026, in connection with the oil-refining company’s much-expected Initial Public Offering (IPO).

According to the prospectus for share subscription, the Dangote Refinery IPO share price is ₦525 per share, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares, costing total ₦5,250.

The landmark public offering officially opened on the Nigerian Exchange Monday, September 14, 2026, and it is scheduled to close October 13 this year.

Describing the scope and scale of the IPO, Mr. Bird like Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President/Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) said in a recent interview on CNN, also described the IPO as “Africa’s biggest Investment” ever.

Dangote led the Management, investors, and some corporate titans to launch the Refinery’s total shares of 4.1 billion Ordinary Shares (with a 30 percent greenshoe overallotment option).

Bird, Chief Executive of Dangote Refinery, also stated of the continent’s place in the global economy.

He said: “Africa is no longer supplying only raw materials.

“Africa is building the capacity to power the world.”

In regard to the increased capacity of the oil-refining facility, he noted that with a 700,000-barrels-per-day (bpd) capacity, global-standard products, and a vision to scale to 1.4 million barrels per day, “the Dangote Refinery is positioning Nigeria at the centre of Africa’s energy transformation.”

Bird asserted: “This is more than a refinery.

“It is a pan-African energy platform built for global impact.”
