NUC re-accredits all KWASU undergraduate programmes –Official

Sequel to a successful presentation of its academic programmes for re-accreditation, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has re-accredited all 25 undergraduate programmes of the Kwara State University (KWASU).

ConsumerConnect learnt KWASU had submitted the affected undergraduate programmes to the NUC during the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise.

The accreditation results, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and dated 30th April, 2025, were signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu.

Saeedat Aliyu, Acting Director of University Relations, in a statement issued to reporters Friday, May 23, 2025, indicated that 21 of the programmes received full accreditation, while four were granted interim accreditation.

The statement noted: “The programmes with full accreditation include Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Physics, and Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution.

“Others are Special Education, French Education, Christian Religious Studies Education, Islamic Studies Education, Arabic Education, and Computer Science Education.”

Aliyu stated: “Business Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Agriculture Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education complete the list of programmes with full accreditation.

“French, Mathematics Education, English Education, and Yoruba Education were granted interim accreditation.”

KWASU further said the programmes granted full accreditation would be valid for five years, while those with interim accreditation hold for two years, after which the NUC would conduct fresh re-evaluation of the academic programmes.

Commenting on the results of the re-accreditation, the statement said Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, commended the University Staff for successfully presenting their programmes for re-accreditation.

Jimoh assured that the Management of KWASU would continue to support all academic, research, and community development activities.

The Vice-Chancellor urged greater commitment from all to elevate the state-owned University to greater heights.
