Consumer Safety: NAFDAC destroys counterfeit, expired products worth N1.3bn in Abuja + Photos

*Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control destroys fake, expired, and substandard goods worth N1.3 billion, in Abuja, in a bid to safeguard the health of consumers in the country

In continuation of its drive safeguard the health of Nigerian consumers, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced it destroyed fake, expired, and substandard goods worth N1.3 billion, in Abuja, FCT.

ConsumerConnect reports NAFDAC in a note via its verified social media account stated Prof. Moji Adeyeye, Director-General of NAFDAC, at the Kuje dump site, in Abuja, said the items destroyed, including drugs, hospital equipment, cosmetics, food items, and several other products.

Represented by Festus Ukadike, who led officials of the agency to the location, Prof. Adeyeye also disclosed the health regulatory agency destroyed expired food items voluntarily handed over by some local and international organisations, including the World Food Programme (WFP).
