Connectivity: Nigerian consumers’ Internet usage hits 870,398 Terabytes, 134,787,935 total subscriptions October 2024

Nigeria has recorded a notable recovery in telecoms consumers’ data usage after the reported decline September 2024.

ConsumerConnect reports the West African country’s Internet data usage increased to 870,398.28 terabytes October this year, indicating a surge from 850,249.09 terabytes from the previous month.

It should also be noted the rebound is sequel to an ealier decline September 2024, which witnessed Internet consumption drop by 0.82 percent to 850,249.09 terabytes, the first decrease since February 2024.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in its latest reports on the Internet and Broadband penetration for October 2024, showed a considerable recovery in data usage in the country’s digital ecosystem, following an apparent decline in September.

The telecoms sector regulatory Commission also reported via its coporate Web site that the total Active Internet Subscriptions by Technology between November 2023 and October 2024 was total 134,787,935 with Mobile (GSM) recording 134,279,501; Fixed Wired 10,661; ISP (Wired/Wireless) hitting 285,702 while the VoIP recorded 212,071 respectively as of October this year.

By implication, Nigerian telecoms subscribers consumed an enormous amount of data October 2024, with 870,398 terabytes—equivalent to 870,398,000 gigabytes in the country’s digital ecosystem.
