NITDA urges stakeholders to design strategies to tackle financial crimes in Nigeria

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has advocated strategies for building a system that ensures transparency in financial transactions towards eradicating fraud and boosting financial security in Nigeria.

ConsumerConnect reports Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA, stated this during the week in his goodwill message at the high-level Roundtable discussion leveraging Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to enhance collaboration among Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Combating Proliferation Financing (AML/CFT/CPF) stakeholders in the country.

The Nigerian Finance Intelligence Unit (NIFU) the event on addressing financial crimes in the country’s ecosystem.

The Information Technology (IT) sector regulatory agency Tuesday, November 26, 2024, via its verified social media account disclosed Inuwa, in his address, also shared strategies for building “a system that ensures comprehensive transparency in financial transactions across Nigeria, eradicate fraud and bolster financial security.”

The Director-General of the agency harped on the need for collaboration between the government, organisations, and private sector players in order to co-design and co-create technology-driven solutions in the financial sector.

Such partnerships will ensure joint ownership of initiatives, and contribute significantly to a Nigeria free of financial crimes, stated Inuwa.
