Tinubu receives new envoys, harps on trade, investments and defence cooperation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the Letters of Credence, and welcomed new envoys from Egypt and Greece, stressing the need to fast-track economic partnership with Nigeria, with particular interests in boosting trade, investments, security and defence cooperation between Nigeria and the two countries.

ConsumerConnect reports President Tinubu, who said this while receiving the new envoys in the State House, Abuja, FCT, reaffirmed Nigeria’s strategic position in Africa as a bastion of peace, saying the nation will continue to play its role as a stabiliser on the continent.

Receiving Letter of Credence from Mohamed Ahmed, Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, the President emphasised the shared commitment of both countries to promoting global peace and stability through collaboration within international organisations, such as the United Nations (US).

The Nigerian leader also observed since establishing diplomatic relations in 1961, Nigeria and Egypt have collaborated on key international priorities, including promoting regional peace, security and stability.

The discussions at the meeting also touched on the situation in the Sahel and Sudan, just as he acknowledged Egypt’s role towards a truce in the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Speaking at the meeting Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated Ambassador Ahmed also conveyed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s willingness to bolster economic partnership with Nigeria.

According to the envoy, President elSisi emphasises Egypt’s interest in increasing trade and investments between the two countries.

President Tinubu, in a separate discussion with Major-General Sohail Ahmed Khan (Rtd.), High Commissioner of Pakistan, President Tinubu described the Ambassador’s military background as invaluable for exchanging ideas to expand security and defence cooperation.

The Nigerian leader equally, emphasised the need for global cooperation in combating terrorism and violent extremism.

Still in a separate meeting with Ambassador Athanasios Kotsionis of Greece, Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to an open-door policy that encourages collaboration and progress for the benefit of all.

He also stressed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Greece, while also building bridges of cooperation to address common challenges between the two countries.
