Following his recent appointment as the new Head of the examination body by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria, have continued to celebrate Segun Aina, Professor of Computer Engineering at the prestigious University, fondly called “Great Ife” by students, friends and admirers of the institution, and new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The Central Office of Research of OAU, in a recent statement titled: “A Great Ife Professor Takes the Helm at JAMB”, obtained via its verified social media account, congratulating Aina said “for the OAU community, this is a particularly proud moment.
“Prof. Aina is not only one of our own; he is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, whose work has taken him from the classroom and research space into a role that now carries national responsibility.”
The University also recalled how the 39-year-old new Registrar of the foremost public examination body began his association with JAMB during his participation in the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, “gaining early experience in the Board’s admissions and data systems.”
Acknowledging the speed and proficiency at which Aina started resolving outstanding candidates cum clients’ issues upon assumption of office at JAMB Headquarters, in Abuja, FCT, the OAU Central Office of Research stated that “he has wasted no time getting to work.”
The academic institution further noted: “Within his first five days in office, more than 5,000 pending complaints were resolved. He also moved his seat to the SERVICOM Unit to get a closer look at the issues candidates and other JAMB clients were bringing forward.
“For us at Great Ife, this is worth celebrating.”
OAU averred: “We celebrate not simply the appointment of one of our own to a critical national institution, but the early evidence of a leader who is listening, responding, and getting things done.”
It restated: “Congratulations, Professor Segun Aina. May your tenure at JAMB be marked by sound decisions, better systems, responsive service, and many more achievements.
