*First Lady (Senator) Oluremi Tinubu reassures the citizenry that Nigeria’s current socio-economic and security challenges will be surmounted

Nigerian First Lady (Senator) Oluremi Tinubu has reassured fellow citizens that with the continued efforts of the Federal Government and the various security agencies, as well as collaboration of other countries, the current insecurity, and other national challenges would be surmounted.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu stated this Saturday, May 30, 2026, while on her first official state visit to Ekiti State during a meeting with the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers Council, held in the Government House, Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
She assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly to ensure that issues of insecurity are curbed.
The First Lady said the issues of insecurity are highly disheartening.
Mr. Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the First Lady on Media, at the weekend, quoted the First Lady to have said: “The US for example, is helping; most of the people causing this unrest are non-Nigerians, not that security issues do not exist in Nigeria.
“I can’t really say too much because some information are highly classified.”
She further said: ”Therefore, I can assure you, America for instance are helping, France too are helping and some other developed countries.
”Nigeria because of her nature as a blessed country, you can see the beauty from Ekiti, Nigeria is too great to be intimidated.”
First Lady Tinubu, therefore, expressed her belief that the challenges facing the country presently would end soon.
She also urged especially women to keep being prayerful, adding that she believes that God is faithful to fail.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti Traditional Rulers’ Council, Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti had commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his various initiatives to make life easy for Nigerians.
He expressed his deep belief in the leadership of President Tinubu as he recalled how the President transformed Lagos State while he was the state governor.
The statement noted the Royal Father urged President Tinubu to ensure that insecurity is addressed, citing how people are being kidnapped in the state and other states.
The First Lady of Nigeria then, proceeded to give Business Recapitalisation Grant of N100 million for 2,000 women petty traders in Ekiti State at N50,000 each.
The grant, according to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is to assist and encourage the women to keep supporting their families, and for economic growth.
Senator Tinubu, accompanied to Ekiti State by Wife of the Vice-President, Hajia Nana Shettima; APC National Women Leader Dr. Mary Alile Idele; Honourable Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also rallied support from the women in the state for a second term for Governor Oyebanji.
Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, wife of the Ekiti Governor, and other State Governors’ wives with other political leaders, also charged the people to support the incumbent governor in the upcoming election in June as well as President Tinubu for continuity come 2027.
Other projects which the First Lady has executed under the Renewed Hope Initiative RHI include: annual Scholarships of ₦1 million and laptop for three years for each student from the 36 states of the Federation, including the FCT and DEPOWA with one of the students from Ekiti State.

The First Lady project, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education gave 5,100 Bursaries in 2024 out of which Ekiti State received 100.
Likewise, of the total 1,500 scholarships 2025, Ekiti got 40 slots for students in 200 Level up to Ph.D. level.
Environment Club/Society was launched in Ekiti State in November, 2025.
Kukoyi disclosed that under the RHI Flow with Confidence, 10,000 packs of a year supply of sanitary pads to school girls in Ekiti State.
The First Lady also announced cash rewards of N200 million for two best graduating students (a male and a female) from Ekiti State University after her commissioning the TETFUND Sponsored ICT Experience Centre during her visit to the State, the statement added.
