Mitsubishi recalls 89,907 Outlander, Outlander PHEV vehicles over defective rearview camera

Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling 89,907 model year 2022-2023 Outlanders and model year 2023 Outlander PHEVs.

ConsumerConnect gathered due to a software error in the in-vehicle infotainment system (A-IVI), the backup camera rearview image of the affected vehicles may not appear on the display.

The automobile manufacturer explained that a rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver’s rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

In regard to what to do in addressing the fault, the company said the dealers would update the A-IVI software free of charge.

Owners will be notified by mail starting June 20, 2023.
