*Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, affirm the institution’s decision to rusticate 365 students for forgeries has underscored its commitment to sanitising the academic system while reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against fraudulent practices and other forms of misconduct

Citing issues of academic fraud at the point of entry, authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, have expelled 365 students for gaining admissions into the institution of higher learning with forged academic credentials.
The Management of the academic institution disclosed the affected students, all enrolled in various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, were discovered to have presented fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts from different institutions to facilitate their admissions into the Polytechnic.
‘Yemi Ajibola, Head of Public Relations and Protocol of MAPOLY, whom noted this development Monday, June 1, 2026, stated that the affected students’ expulsion followed a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on the credentials they had submitted during the admission and registration processes.
The Polytechnic also said its decision underscored the institution’s commitment to “sanitising the academic system and reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against fraudulent practices and other forms of academic misconduct.”
Ajibola announced the distribution of the expelled students across the several Schools in the Polytechnic as follows:
- School of Communication and Information Technology – 156
- School of Engineering – 36
- School of Business and Management Studies – 117
- School of Science and Technology – 54
- School of Environmental Studies – 2
The Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the institution further said in view of the foregoing, Arc. (Dr.) ‘Koye Jolaoso, Rector of MAPOLY, has cautioned prospective applicants and admission seekers against the use of fake academic credentials to gain admissions into the tertiary institution of learning.
Arc. (Dr.) Jolaoso said the decisive action against the academic fraudsters aligned with the Polytechnic’s commitment to upholding academic integrity, promoting excellence, and repositioning the 47-year-old Institution as a model of transparency, credibility, and professionalism in tertiary education in Nigeria.
