Dr. Tunde Lemo, ex-Deputy Governor Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has accepted the role of chairman at the 8th edition of annual lecture of Penpushing Media, scheduled to hold July 23, 2026, at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential library, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Chairperson of the anniversary lecture, disclosed this while speaking with reporters.
Akiyode-Afolabi said Lemo had equally confirmed to be physically present at the event.
She added that the chairman, who is a prominent and proactive member of Penpushing platform, will oversee the conducts of the ceremony and he is expected to make remarks
Lemo in response to the invitation commended the Editorial Board and planning committee of Penpushing Media, owner of online newspaper and television for the foresight and relevance in the media industry
A Nigerian banker, who is a product of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), in Anambra State, where he graduated with First Class Honours in Accounting, in 1984, and in 2018, served as Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
Lemo in 1997, became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, while he started his career from Arthur Anderson and Company in 1985 and from 2000 to 2003, served as Managing Director of Wema Bank Plc.
The renowned financial expert in 2003, became the Deputy Governor of Operations and Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)—serving as its Deputy Governor of Financial Surveillance sector.
Lemo on January 2, 2004, became the Director and Chairman of the Abuja Securities and Commodity Exchange Plc, and was a Non-Executive Director of Africa Finance Corporation since May 16, 2007.
Lemo, a former Chairman of the Boards of Titan Trust Bank and Flutterwave, has continued to lend his expertise as an active member of numerous other boards.
In 2011, he was awarded the National Honour of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) by the Federal Government of Nigeria in recognition of his contributions to the banking sector.
During his tenure as Deputy Governor of CBN from 2004 to 2014, he played a central role in the banking sector consolidation that raised minimum capital requirements from ₦2 billion to ₦25 billion, contributing to the emergence of larger African and global banking players,
The cerebral banker also led the modernisation of Nigeria’s payments system, the rapid deployment of electronic banking, the formulation of the Microfinance Policy and Supervisory Framework, and the restructuring of the Abuja Securities and Commodities Exchange and the Nigeria Export-Import Bank
Lemo is an ordained Reverend with Four Square Gospel Church, having being ordained Minister in 2008, and he is a pioneer church planter and founder of Success Academy for Financial Literacy, married to Pastor Yemi Lemo.
