Citing alleged criminal activities committed in the American country, the United States (US) has released a list of Nigerians to be deported any time from now.
The US Department of Homeland Security, in a statement published Wednesday, July 8, 2026, on its Web site, noted that the affected individuals have committed various crimes in the foreign country.

The United States Government subsequently, placed the affected Nigerians on what the Department described as its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register, with their names and photos also published on the Web site.
The Department of Homeland Security also stated: “The US Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Under DHS leadership, the hard-working men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations – starting with the worst of the worst – including the illegal aliens you see here.”
The US, however, did not disclose the timeline for their deportations in the publication on site.
It is further noted that the US ICE said the current deportations are part of immigration enforcement in the American country.
Those on the list were convicted of serious crimes ranging from assault to fraud by wire, noted the statement.
Besides, the list also includes people from other countries, such as Cuba, Cameroon, Niger, Togo, Burkina Faso, Mexico, and Honduras.
The development is the latest in the immigration enforcement moves by the government of President Donald Trump, who came in for a second term on January 20, 2025.
Why US imposes partial visa restrictions on Nigerians?
Since his return to the Oval Office, Trump has made a series of moves to clamp down on illegal immigration.
The US President has also directed authorities to intensify border control and the removal of undocumented persons in the US.
In June 2026, the Trump administration imposed a partial visa restriction on Nigerians over visa overstays and other issues.
At least 60 people have been deported to Ghana since September.
But some lawyers last month filed a suit against Ghana at Africa’s top human rights court on behalf of deportees sent there under the United States’ third-country deportation policies.
