NCC announces entries for 2021 ICT innovation competition and exhibition

*The Nigerian Communication Commission says the Information and Communications Technology Innovation Competition/Exhibition is a platform for showcasing the Nigerians’  talents and innovations in the country’s Telecoms/ICT ecosystem

In regard to the Commission’s deliberate intent as stated in the Strategic Management Plan (2020-2024) and Strategic Vision Implementation Plan (2021-2025), the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has said it is committed to promoting innovations for sustainability and continuous development of the communications industry in the country.

Accordingly, the telecoms sector regulatory Commission, in a notice published on its corporate Web site, invites startups, technology hubs, as well as investors and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT)  ecosystem to participate in the second edition of the NCC Emerging Technologies Annual Innovation Competition/Exhibition.

The theme of this year’s edition of the programme is, “Promoting Sustainable Digital Service Development in Nigeria”.

ConsumerConnect reports the telecoms regulator noted that the ICT Innovation Competition/Exhibition would be a medium for showcasing talents and innovations in ICT ecosystem in Nigeria.

“This is aimed at motivating and encouraging Nigerian youths to engage in innovative developments for the telecoms industry and improve the nation’s ability to compete in the global economy.

“In addition, the Event is designed for the promotion of Digital SMEs with new business delivery breakthroughs,” the NCC stated.

Therefore, prospective technology hubs and startups entering the competition are required to submit proposals that meet the specified criteria for consideration

The Commission also noted that the deadline for submission of entries is November 29, 2021, while shortlisted applicants will be announced December 3, 2021.

Shortlisted applicants are required to be available in Lagos at Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Lagos Campus, December 6, 2021.

The NCC added that an independent panel of Judges will determine a First and Runner-up entry, and judges’ decisions are final.
