Mercedes-Benz recalls G550 vehicles over defective fuel tank

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling three model year 2019 G550 vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer said the fuel tank may not have been welded properly during manufacturing, which could result in a fuel leak.

The company stated that a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of fire.

In regard to what to do in rectifying the error, the MBUSA disclosed that dealers would replace the fuel tank free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2021.
