Scientists doubt one-shot treatment for Pfizer, Moderna COVID vaccines

Alexander Davis | ConsumerConnect

As new COVID-19 vaccines are cleared for immunisation against the damaging virus in several regions of the global community, the United States (US) scientists are skeptical of a one-shot regimen for Pfizer Inc. and Moderna Inc COVID-19 vaccines.

The experts state that there is not enough evidence that a single dose provides long-term protection, reports The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

It is noted that regulatory agencies have already approved both Prizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines for use in the US, and other parts of the world.

Peter Marks, Director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, told the Journal that “it is essential that these vaccines be used as authorised by FDA in order to prevent COVID-19 and related hospitalisations and death.”
