Revolutionary Guards Monday, October 29, 2026, said an oil tanker caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a mine.<\/p>\n<p><em><i>ConsumerConnect<\/i><\/em>&nbsp;gathered the latest such an incident since Tehran tightened its grip on the strategic waterway.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"y0yENyTnOV\"><p><a out against the United States and Israel late February this year, choking off the vital shipping route which normally carries about a fifth of the world\u2019s petroleum products.<\/p>\n<p>The Islamic Republic has demanded that all ships seek its authorisation before transiting.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian state media quoted the Guards as saying: \u201cAn oil tanker, which was in violation, struck a naval mine south of the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in an explosion and a fire in its engine room.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The tanker was travelling in the strait\u2019s \u201cunauthorised southern route\u201d, and had disabled its positioning and navigation systems, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>It came a day after the Guards said two oil tankers caught fire in the strait, both after hitting mines.<\/p>\n<p>The Guards\u2019 naval commander Admiral Ali Ozmaei also warned, this week, that any vessel that deactivated its navigation systems would be considered \u201chostile\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The United States has
