visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cNCC launches Internet Governance Group to address cybersafety, AI accountability\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=5364&amp;embed=true#?secret=I5ouKRteWO#?secret=2q1wuY2HED\" data-secret=\"2q1wuY2HED\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The health regulatory agency&#8217;s destruction of the confiscated counterfeit products was reportedly part of a renewed nationwide crackdown on counterfeit and unwholesome goods seized within a week, and valued at over \u20a65.3 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The destruction exercise in Port Harcourt followed enforcement operations in Lagos and Aba, Abia State, where NAFDAC seized suspected counterfeit alcoholic beverages, packaging materials and products valued at billions of Naira.<\/p>\n<p><em>ConsumerConnect<\/em> reports the seized and destroyed items included pharmaceutical products, chemicals, tomato paste, biscuits, and other items considered unwholesome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Destroyed substandard products intercepted and seized at Onne Port <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The agency disclosed the operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had intercepted and seized the fake and substandard products between 2025 and 2026, at Onne Port, in Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>Officials of NAFDAC and the Nigeria Customs Service, during the exercise also highlighted the need for stronger collaboration to prevent dangerous products from reaching unwary consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the exercise, in Port-Harcourt Martins Iluyomade, Chairman of the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods in Nigeria, representing Prof.&nbsp; Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General of NAFDAC, said the operation demonstrated cooperation between the two agencies in tackling counterfeit and substandard products.<\/p>\n<p>Iluyomade, who doubles as the Director of Investigation and Enforcement at NAFDAC, described the exercise as the first phase.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Director: More fake seizures expected for destruction in Rivers <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Director also noted that more seized substandard goods were expected to be brought from the port for destruction.<\/p>\n<p>He further stated: \u201cWhat you see here right now, this is the flag-up; others are still coming out of the port.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Iluyomade urged the Nigeria Customs Service to facilitate the remaining containers for destruction as well.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods urged stakeholders to sustain cooperation among government agencies involved in the fight against counterfeit products and illicit activities, warning against inter-agency rivalry.<\/p>\n<p>Chukwuma Oligbu, South-South Zonal Director of the agency,&nbsp;
