visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cEnergy Security: Court\u2019s ordering NMDPRA to grant oil import licences to marketers conforms to PIA \u2013Official\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=4678&amp;embed=true#?secret=pe6UCXtDAr#?secret=LkSzM4jRmA\" data-secret=\"LkSzM4jRmA\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The statement noted the conference would hold at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Radisson Blu Hotel, 38 to 40 Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of this year&#8217;s conference is: \u201c2027 Elections: Trust, Transparency and Shared Responsibilities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Guild noted other partners include the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Bank of Industry (BoI), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).<\/p>\n<p>Besides, private sector organisations supporting the conference also include TAJBank, Emadeb Energy, Setraco Limited, Sovereign Trust Insurance and Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria Plc.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Yesufu said Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would deliver the keynote address, while Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, Founding Partner of Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), would chair the conference.<\/p>\n<p>The panellists are CP Abayomi Shogunle, Commissioner of Police, Election Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Prof. Tayo Popoola, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos (UNILAG); Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, Creative Director of Gender Agenda and Founder of WEWE Network Afrique; and Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director of the International Press Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the forthcoming event, Olumide Iyanda, Deputy President of GOCOP and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, thanked the organisations supporting the conference.<\/p>\n<p>Iyanda stated: \u201cWe sincerely appreciate our sponsors and partners for their confidence in GOCOP, and for recognising the importance of supporting credible conversations around Nigeria\u2019s media industry, democracy and national development.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their contributions are an important part of making this year\u2019s conference possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy President also said the support from organisations in the public and private sectors would help the Guild to deliver the conference as it marks the 10th Edition of the annual event in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The statement indicated that this year&#8217;s conference would examine the responsibilities of electoral institutions, political actors, security agencies, the media, civil society and citizens in strengthening public confidence in Nigeria\u2019s electoral process ahead of the 2027 General Elections.<\/p>\n<p>GOCOP is a business membership organisation of 127 online publications in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Its members are media entrepreneurs, who own and operate digital publishing businesses across the West African country.<\/p>\n<p>The Publicity Secretary stated the Guild promotes the business and ethics of online publishing, professional standards, and the collective interests of its members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It also works to strengthen the sustainability and credibility of digital journalism in Nigeria,&#8221;
