{"id":3739,"date":"2026-08-30T21:34:34","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T21:34:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=3739"},"modified":"2026-08-30T21:57:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T21:57:56","slug":"naseni-expands-economic-opportunities-empowers-1000-lagos-residents-through-nsep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=3739","title":{"rendered":"Energy Solutions: NASENI expands economic opportunities, empowers 1,000 Lagos residents via NSEP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>*<strong><em>NASENI&#8217;s Sustainable Empowerment Programme empowers 1,000 beneficiaries with clean energy solutions, livelihood support, and practical skills training, in Lagos State, as part of its efforts at deploying technology to improve lives and economic opportunities for Nigerian consumers<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Isola Moses | ConsumerConnect<\/p>\n<p>The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has extended its Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) to Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>The agency NSEP programme empowers 1,000 beneficiaries with clean energy solutions, livelihood support, and practical skills training as part of efforts at deploying technology that directly improves the lives and economic opportunities for Nigerians.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"YDMQKnu64A\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=3743\">NCC 4th Hackathon: Young innovators shine, showcase accessible tech solutions<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cNCC 4th Hackathon: Young innovators shine, showcase accessible tech solutions\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=3743&amp;embed=true#?secret=dtNlJPmuWX#?secret=YDMQKnu64A\" data-secret=\"YDMQKnu64A\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>NASENI said the Lagos edition of the programme, held Friday, August 28, 2026, at the LTV Blue Roof, Ikeja, Lagos State capital, featured the distribution of 400 NASENI Power Stoves, 100 NASENI Home Solar Solutions and NASENI Support Packs, as well as practical skills training in Plaster of Paris (POP) installation and Electrical Maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>It also said the intervention was part of NASENI\u2019s drive to take practical science, technology and engineering solutions beyond laboratories and factories into Nigerian homes, businesses and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice-Chairman\/Chief Executive Officer (EVC\/CEO) of NASENI, said the Lagos programme came just a day after the agency delivered a similar intervention in Ohafia, Abia State, South-East Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>It is noted that the programme has demonstrated NASENI\u2019s determination to reach Nigerians across different parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, Director of Information at NASENI, in a statement Sunday, August 30, 2026, noted Mr. Halilu said: \u201cYesterday, we were in Ohafia, Abia State, delivering the same message through action. Today, we are here in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For us at NASENI, science, technology and engineering must ultimately improve lives. Innovation only becomes meaningful when it solves real problems for real people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The EVC\/CEO of NASENI explained that the agency&#8217;s Power Stoves are designed to provide cleaner and more efficient cooking alternatives, helping households reduce dependence on traditional cooking methods while contributing to Nigeria\u2019s transition towards cleaner energy.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the NASENI Home Solar Solutions are also designed to provide households and small businesses with reliable renewable energy options that can extend productive hours and support economic activities.<\/p>\n<p>The NASENI Executive Vice-Chairman said the Lagos edition was deliberately designed to go beyond the distribution of products by incorporating practical, market-relevant skills development in POP installation and Electrical Maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>He further stated: \u201cThese are practical skills with immediate economic value.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The objective is not simply to train people, but to give them skills they can convert into services, businesses and sustainable sources of income.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want beneficiaries to move from learning to earning, and from receiving support to becoming productive economic participants.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Halilu, therefore, urged beneficiaries to regard the intervention as an investment in their productive capacity and make effective use of both the products and skills provided.<\/p>\n<p>Halilu said: \u201cOur real measure of success is what happens after today. Are households benefiting? Are people reducing their energy challenges?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Are those trained earning from their new skills? Are small businesses being created or expanded? Those are the outcomes that matter to us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Fuad Kayode Laguda, a member representing Surulere I Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, National Assembly (NASS), Abuja, FCT, who represented Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President, commended NASENI for bringing the programme to Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>Laguda described the combination of practical skills development and empowerment products as an important demonstration of the Federal Government\u2019s commitment to translating policies and programmes into tangible opportunities for Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>He called for the expansion of the programme to reach more communities and beneficiaries across Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking, Chief Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe, Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), represented by Hon. Akeem Dauda, Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, lauded NASENI for the intervention, particularly its focus on clean energy, skills development and sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Akeem Dauda also appreciated NASENI for bringing the programme to Lagos and urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the opportunities provided.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, represented by Hon.
