He joined the UBA Group in 2006 and has contributed immensely to the growth of the Bank in both the private and public sectors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With over 35 years of professional experience, Puri brings expertise spanning banking, FinTech, telecommunications, and fast-moving consumer goods.<\/p>\n<p>His extensive experience across several industries positions him to contribute valuable knowledge to UBA\u2019s board and strategic decision-making processes.<\/p>\n<p>Puri holds a Master\u2019s degree in Banking and Finance from Bayero University, Kano (BUK), in Northern Nigeria, strengthening his academic foundation in financial management.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond UBA, he currently serves on several corporate boards, including Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc and telecommunications company 9mobile, now T2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elumelu welcomes Puri\u2019s return to UBA Group<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commenting on Puri\u2019s return to the bank a Non-Executive Director, Mr. Tony Elumelu, Group Chairman of UBA Plc, is said to have welcomed Puri\u2019s homecoming, highlighting his experience and professional expertise as valuable additions to the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p>Elumelu described Puri as an accomplished professional whose knowledge would strengthen UBA\u2019s governance and long-term strategic direction.<\/p>\n<p>The UBA appointment comes as the bank continues expanding its operations across African markets while strengthening its leadership structure. According to the bank, Puri\u2019s appointment remains subject to approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria before taking effect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Board approves H1 2026 audited financial statements <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a related development, the UBA Board also approved the Deposit Money Bank\u2019s (DMB) audited financial statements for the first half (H1) of 2026 during its recent meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The financial results provide additional context for the leadership announcement as UBA continues navigating Nigeria\u2019s evolving banking environment.<\/p>\n<p>Puri\u2019s return marks another chapter in his relationship with UBA after previously holding a senior executive position within the institution.<\/p>\n<p>His banking career has included leadership responsibilities that exposed him to financial services, technology, telecommunications, and consumer-focused businesses.<\/p>\n<p>For UBA, his broad experience could support discussions around digital transformation, corporate governance, risk management, and business growth opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>According to the bank, Puri\u2019s appointment, therefore, signals the bank\u2019s continued focus on \u201cexperienced leadership\u201d and \u201cstrong corporate governance\u201d across its operations.<\/p>\n<p>Once regulators approve the appointment, Puri will officially resume his responsibilities
